While I was tracking a pair of wattlebirds

I spotted something else up the gum tree.

I think he knew he wasn't supposed to be up there.

I like how his coloring 'adopts' the hues around him.

Photography equipment

Seriously thinking about getting a monopod. Tripod is good for set up shots, shots that aren't time sensitive, or long exposure, but it's rather clumsy for scenic shots where you just need a bit of steadiness.

Sunrise photos

Rainy mornings can make for some very vivid sunrises.

Taken less than 2 minutes apart. Funnily enough, the earlier one has much more vivid colors.

I turned around to go back into the house, and was presented with a full arc rainbow over the house. I did get pictures of it, but they are very grainy.

It's amazing who you can run into when pillaging (grocery shopping)

I have a thing for recognising and remember faces. Even if they are faces of people I haven't personally met (yet).  Was pillaging with aikidomayland in the Fremantle COLES, and I saw someone. Brain whirled for a nano, and I pegged who it was. I grinned, and said hello to:

Darren Simpson, celeb chef on Channel 10's "Ready, Steady, Cook!"

While waiting for hubby to return, and seeing as I always have a camera with me, I asked if it would ok for me to take photo of him. He suggested that aikidomayland take the pic of the two of us.  I promised him I wasn't stalking him (had seen him in COLES, and said I liked the show, but I was politic enough to NOT say how Peter Everett shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a kitchen, as he is a disaster waiting to happen), and he laughed.  Traded cooking stories, and he said I should come on the show. *chuckle*

The house is fragrant with home made, from scratch, banana macadamia nut bread. (inhales deeply)

Warbirds 2008

SciFi Channel original movie. Jurassic Park + Amelia Earhardt + Pitch Black + a pinch of WW2 = Warbirds 2008.

I would have to call it a "Good bad movie", as most of the acting is cheesy (the tossing about of words like Japs, Tojo etc etc), and there is only one type of boring flying dinosaur.

It was good to do a "MST3K" while watching it with friends.

But I do wonder how all these female pilots, out on an uncharted island, in harsh jungle conditions, keep their ruby red lipstick, and don't even chip a nail, after a few days. But I do like how the "Skipper" saves the Colonels' butt on more than one occasion.

Well, I was right

No gym yesterday. Took a Mersyndol before bed, and the knee does feel better. Not going to push it. I have learned the hard way that knees are very unforgiving if you ignore the pain.

Here's hoping a little R&R for a day or two sets things to right.

SciFi Magazine

June 2008 edition

Since I have been having a problem getting the magazine shipped to me anywhere near the time they were supposed to mailed to me, I had actually called the publisher concerning this. Now, I get them mailed in an addressed envelope instead of the typical plastic sheath.

The cover sports Harrison Ford, and I have to say he looks pretty damned good for an ol' geezer. :D Lots of info about the new Indiana Jones movie, "The Crystal Skull" . I, like the writer of the article, am hoping that this isn't going to be cringe worthy , like the Mammoth Blemish (Phantom Menace) and the other two Starwars prequels.

Get ready for the Wachowski (The Matrix) brothers' SPEED RACER. From the still shots and the write up, seems to be another good one.

Have lots of reading. One of the things i like about SciFi magazine, they don't kiss ass. If something is meh, even if it's a SciFi channel production, you get told it's Meh.

I have a feeling

No gym tonight. I am planning on going, but I think it's going to be wishful thinking. My knee is swollen just under the kneecap. It's ok if I keep it bent, or keep it straight, but the transition isn't a helluva lot of fun. *wince*

Checking equipment

Camera batteries.. check
SD and CF cards.. Check
Flash and Batteries.. check
Tripod.. check

I have a photo-job this afternoon. Not something glam, but hey it can be chalked up to good job experience.

Taking shots of HS Seniors in the Tuxes and Gowns. Maybe a few in or around the limo too.

Up again at Dark O'clock

Thanks to aikidomayland.  If I snore even the slightest (or wheeze because of asthma), he keeps waking me up to let me know, instead of just rolling over and going to sleep (like I do when he starts sounding like a chain saw falling down a well). So, due to being on constant 'short rations' of sleep, I am not what I can say is cheery when for the 3rd night in a row he does it again!

Success

The Jambalaya came out wonderfully. aikidomayland went back for 2nds, and to clean off the serving spoon.

I think this will become a regular at our house.

Well

Now that I have an offline posting tool, I will be updating Vox a bit more often.
