I was cleaning and refilling the hummingbird feeders. I turned not quite right, right knee didn’t like it and I stumbled. When I reached out to get my balance, I dropped the feeder and it shattered. *sigh*
Have cleaned up all the glass, cleaned and refilled the remaining ones. The bright side is it was one of the smaller feeders, not the one of the large ones. Have ordered a new one from Amazon.
Dana, council member, came out to examine the gumtree that shed a huge branch a few months back. It was scheduled for pruning, with the promise that I would get the mulch, and my neighbor would get log sized branches.
Tree lopper came out, and was privvy about the arrangement, pruned the tree.
This morning, the chipping crew came out with nary a clue about the mulch/logs arrangement. They couldn't cut the branches because last week, someone stole the chainsaw out from the truck during a job.
But never fear, they came up with a way. They fed the branches that were thicker than my forearm in backward, chipped away until it was log sized, and put it aside. They did this with many of them.
So, neighbor has firewood, and I have a HUGE pile of mulch. I have already spread out 5 wheelbarrows full. I am done as my left calf muscle is having nerve pain fits, and this activity is a bit much while I am still wheezing and coughing from this flu.
But it smells soooo nice!
After treating my chili tree, successfully it seems, for woolly aphids, here are the first two ripe chilies from it. Don't let the small size of these fool you, one of these can boost a pot of chili from 2 burner to 3 burner.
Gawd it's hot outside. I got my almost daily walk in and was wondering why I felt like I was sweltering. 'Official' temperature 31c? My bet, a bit warmer here.
Came in, got a drink, went back outside to tend to the gardening. In this case, watering plants in back yards, feeding potted plants in front yard, and harvesting more chilies.
Might have to pickle this batch. Thinking about adding a bit of soy sauce to the mix this time around.
I have been back to doing laps, walking as briskly as possible without limping, in the back yard. I do bring a camera outside with me, just in case the locals fly in for a visit. When I'm done (typically 3 to 5 chapters of audio book) I will water plants that need it, and pull some of the grass growing between bricks.
Such a glamorous life. heh
The past few weeks, Sam (the gardener) has been doing a great job taming the wild growth. The past two weeks he's been working in the back yard, on the right side of the house. He did a great job (see below)
Problem is this: because the last person we hired to clear the yard didn't take the debris away, or even bag it for us to dispose of, but left it hidden in piles under trees or shrubs, which allowed the seeds to fall off and it just started the whole thing all over again. So, although Sam has thoroughly weeded, every morning I go outside, and I see grass sprouts at least 2 inches tall. I get the rake out, dig them up and expose their roots, and they do dry out. Later on the same day, I go outside, and I'll be damned if there isn't more of them, same height.
Looking into either burying the area in mulch, or find a pet safe weed killer. The only one I found the weeds need to be in the sun. Not happening back there. The fence casts shadows right to the bricks.
Been working with the netbook. The glide pad takes a bit of getting used to as the buttons are on the sides rather than above or below it. I can use a wireless mouse.
The action of the keyboard is a helluva lot better than I would have expected. Not mushy, and you don't have to pound on them either. After using this netbook for a while, when I go back to AcerRacer the screen and keyboard seems huge.
Got a lot of small chores done. You know, the kinds that make the room look messy. Sorted through the pile of stuff on the sofa, and suddenly we have a sofa again. heh
The Tomato Plant that Will not Die is in flower again. Goodly sized flowers. So is the seedling, well not a seedling anymore, that Meegan gave me. Barring disaster and hungry bugs, I might get a few more than three fruits this time. :)
