It's never simple with software, is it?

I have switched from Chrome browser to Brave. I ditched Chrome because of their habit of disabling addons that were no long on their webstore, or didn't have adware it.  Brave installed, and install all those addons, even the ones they no longer have because the violate their policies (aka no adware, no paid for content etc).

Then came the fun part; having to figure out which one was screwing up page layouts.  Turns out it was Google's 'new' addon replacement for the one they took down.  Disabled the new and improved, installed the 'old and lousy' , and everything's working perfectly.

And internet history repeats..

Yeah, they said they sent out emails, and posted it on their own blog, but I got it, and I looked through all my email accounts, including spam folders.

With no warning, TypePad closed up. I found out by trying to post to it, as usual, and got some error message. I clicked on link to my blog page, and got this huge CLOSED graphic, with lame-assed excuses as to why we could no longer even archive the weblogs.  If this sounds familiar, it's because this was exactly what 6Apart did to Vox blog back in 2010.

So yeah, I am pissed off.

Love me some nostalgia

Starting back in the 1990s, there was a comic strip, titled "User Friendly". I would visit it every day, and submit "Links of the Day".  A couple of times, that site would get overloaded. Good times.

A while back, I decided to check it, to see if there was anything new. True, I hadn't visited the site for a long time, but I was surprised to find out it was gone. Defunct.

But all was not lost. Someone, before UF vanished, archived every comic strip.

Never underestimate the joy of nostalgia. (clicks to another strip)

The weekly grind

And if only it meant what coffee we chose, instead of this shit-show that is currently my life. Wing has decided to push up our photo jaunt from next year, to next month. So, instead of having 6 months to get myself physically ready, got about six weeks

Two exercise therapy sessions a week, one physio session every two weeks. I keep working with the weights, including walking with them, at home. What this means is I'm in an almost constant state of ouch. Hence the use of the term 'shit-show'. I'm hoping that all this effort will pay off in the short and long run.

Massively annoying

With Chromes latest update, too damned many of my extremely useful extensions were disabled for the 'crime' of not being filled with adware or trackers. And none of the 'replacements' on Chrome Web Store even close to being as useful. I have had enough of it.

After a few hours of self-tech support, I have installed BRAVE browser, exported all my Chrome extensions into their own directory. Then proceeded to install each and every one of them into Brave. There are some slight differences, but if you're tired of the BS that is part of using Chrome, Brave is a very good alternative.

I still don't know whether to be embarrassed or happy

The elder care person I've been assigned. She is such a sweet lady.  Seems without lose of energy, to vacuum, then mops, and then select an area I haven't been able to tackle.  Sometimes, she exhausts me with her energy.

Don't get me wrong. Prior to her coming here, you didn't want to wipe your feet after you left, but it needs a good cleaning. Alan and Wing tidy, but they don't clean things. And by the time I manage to get one area cleared/cleaned, I feel as if I have been stretched on rack.

So, she's cleaning my house. I dusted off cobwebs from three room, including the walls and ceilings, the doorway, too.

I'm happy I have the help, but embarrassed I need it.

Physio and Exercise therapists might be on vaycay

But I'm not. For the past two weeks, I have been keeping up with the scheduled exercises at him, as much as I can. I don't have the reformer, or pulley set up, but I do have free weights. 3 sets of 10, every other day.  Not just Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But also Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

I might take the up coming weekend off as I had one helluva painful shoulder blade lock up post exercise shower. It hurt to breathe! I managed to loosen things up (and breathe), and get myself sort of ready for the day.
