Ouchc

With seven days left until he surrenders power, Bush will have to do a heck of a sales job to convince the nation of this. Further complicating his last-minute legacy rehabilitation: Nobody seems to be paying attention. The White House had high expectations for yesterday's final, historic news conference. "ONE CORRESPONDENT PER ORGANIZATION," proclaimed the bulletin sent to reporters. "STANDING ROOM ONLY FOR NON-SEAT HOLDERS." But when the appointed hour of 9:15 a.m. arrived, the last two rows in the seven-row briefing room were empty, and a press aide told White House interns to fill those seats.

It was awful to watch-I don't like the guy, and it was nauseating, but he was also pathetic.

  2. It made me wince.. a lot. His claiming to have inherited this recession made my blood boil, as Clinton left the office with a $128 billion surplus, and a growing economy.  He didn't 'inherit' it.. he created it.

Oh, definitely. There was a slight slow down as Clinton was leaving, but more of a normal business cycle.  If the Pinocchio story was true, the noses of the whole Bush team would be so large they'd all tip over.

What's happened to this country in the last eight years is tragic.  Have you read Naomi Klein's book-"Shock Doctrine?" It reads like a script of what went on here, and it is very scary.

  4. Agreed. There might have been a slight slow down, but economic indicators showed a strong economy.

If the Pinocchio story was true, Bush, Cheney and the rest of those cohorts could write their names on the moon with their noses by now.

I haven't read Klein's book, but I have heard of it and have read excerpts.
