Lets see if this is understood:
Constitutionally, at 12 noon on January 20th, Bush was no longer president, and at 12:01 pm, Obama was president. The swearing in ceremony is a public spectacle, rather like a concert, but for our benefit. It isn't a necessity, and neither is the use of a Bible.
P.S. This is being addressed to the anonymous rubes who left me some really nasty comments. Your hate and bile just prove my point. Legalities and the Constitution mean nothing to you.
