No where in any of my correspondence with you did I ask you, request from you, financial assistance in the costs of the data recovery of the faulty drive you sent to me to replace the faulty drive I sent to you.

What I did send you was my displeasure and disgust with the level of quality of goods and services.  But as I have had to select slowest service, because I can't afford $4k for a quick service, I emailed to let YOU know you have to wait for ME, for a change.

Now, shut the fuck up with your excuses, with the use of using an 8pt font so I didn't know I was getting a refurb instead of a new replacement drive for your faulty one, you cheap SOBs.  And if or when I actually do get another refurb from you, I'm sure it will make a great paperweight as I would not trust to put any data on it, especially after 3 Seagate failures in 5 years.

I guess it's become an overused formula, but this "48 hours earlier" or whatever time-stamp earlier on episodic TV shows is really annoying. 

Dear Seagate

Screw you.

Yes, I know you replaced the faulty drive 2 years ago, but I have something I need to say. 
When I sent my faulty drive back to you, and you sent one back after your tests showed what mine did, that the drive failed, I presumed you had sent me a new drive with the normal 3 year warranty.

Well, the replacement drive you sent started having failure issues of the same sort.  So, I take photograph of the Part number and serial number that is printed on the underside of the drive.  Imagine my shock and anger to find out that you did NOT send me a new drive, but a 'recertifed' aka refurbished drive, but also not covered under warranty!   I am taking the drive to PAYAM data recovery, HOPING they can recover the data. 

This is the 3rd Seagate drive I have had fail. You man now figure the odds of my getting another one.. ever.

Computer Scare, March 21, 2016

Did the Windows update, and all went well. Upon login I get message for HardDisk Sentinel that an external HD, that has been functioning at 100% health, no problems is suddenly at 9% health, get my ass in gear, get a new drive, move data before it's lost!

Just a moment: ran Windows Diag on the drive. Comes back as fine.  Ran Seagate "SeaTools Diagnostics", came back as fine.  Did the point and click, launch, load on files on the drive. All good, all good.  Check cable connections, everything as it should be.

But I can't get HD Sentinel to reassess the drive.

Onto the computer scare.  Updated NetFramework.  Restarted.

Instead of normal start, I get this:

The system found unauthorized changes on the firmware,operating system or UEFI drivers

Go to BIOS Setup > Advanced > Boot and change the current boot device into other secured boot device.

What der furk?  Go into bios, to make sure the boot drive was there, readable etc etc. It was.  Restarted, got same above message.

*breathe, Sandra, breathe!*  Get out laptop, search the above error. Dive back into BIOS, go through the menu, and disable secure boot device.  Restart.. TA DA!  Why this was suddenly an issue, I have NO idea, but problem solved.

Oh, the HD is still saying the other drive is on the verge of dying, but two other diags say otherwise. Me, I am going to use a JB HiFi gift card and go get a new drive. I am NOT going to chance losing all the data again.

As an American living in Australia

I have to say the current political and social behavior of 'conservatives'/Republicans/TeaPublicans is horrible.  Xenophobia, bigotry, violence seem to be their bread and butter. 

Trump incites his followers to violence, and one sucker punches (ok, sucker elbows) a peaceful protester as he is leaving (protester gets tackled to the ground by deputies hired as security) all the while the old white man boasts about how good it felt to hit the young man for not "Behaving like an American" (completely ignoring the 'right of peaceful assembly the young man was following, which is in the U.S. Constitution). Not only bragging about hitting him, but says the next time he might have to kill him. Acts of violence at Trump rallies are escalating, and sooner or later, someone is going to get killed.  Bets that Trump, even with all the provoking he has been doing, his inciting his followers to violence, will claim he bears NO responsibility?  Anyone... anyone?

Let's move on to Sen Rafael Cruz Jr.  He claimed that "Atheists and Gays have no place in HIS American", and the constitution makes that clear.  Please, do tell, which clause/phrase states that, you ignorant asswipe? Maybe you meant SOUTH America?

The worst thing about being a U.S. Citizen in Australia, is that people think I am as stupid, ignorant, bigoted, gun loving, xenophobic as the current crop of Repubs/Teapubs/Conservatives.  I keep getting asked about it, as if I have ANY influence on what is going on with the Clown Car that is the Republican Party and their followers.  Embarrassed? You're damned right I am.  I'm god-damned fed up with the insinuations that I must be like those assholes, being from the same country and all. Not only no, but HELL NO!

I'm waiting for those old white fossils err men to go the way of the dinosaur. The hidebound, the ones that seem to think a book of bronze age fables is the answer to everything, who only offer 'thoughts and prayers' after the slaughter of little children instead of DOING something to stop the next one from every happening again.  Do NOT give me "2nd amendment" bullshit, because the entire clause mentions "A well regulated militia".. NOT every fuqnut with a few hundred bucks.

Think I am like them? 

1: Science, whether I believe in it or not, is true. Yes, humans are mucking up the climate with clear felling forests, polluting the oceans and atmosphere. Sheer folly to say that the billions of tons of shit dumped and spewed by HUMANS isn't having an affect.

2: Homosexuality is just another state of human being. Born that way, not made/turned/forced. Just because a man is gay, does NOT mean he is a pedophile. 95% or more of pedophiles are Heterosexual males, typically a relative of the molested child. Same sex marriage should be legal as a HUMAN right.

3: The planet is 4.6 +/- billion years old. The Universe is expanding, and there is no way life on earth is a cosmic freak. There are others out there, but chances are, unless there is some miracle breakthrough in physics, I won't know in my lifetime.

4: Women should have clear access to womens' health clinics, and this includes to right to a safe pregnancy terminations. Everyone should have health care, as a healthy population is an economically sound one. No one should die or go bankrupt because of no access medical treatment.

5: President Obama is an outstanding president, he isn't my boyfriend so I do NOT expect him to make me happy 100% of the time. He has repaired just about all the damaged done by GW Bush, and would have had it all taken care of of those old white fossils called the Republican Party hadn't fought him on every friggin's issue, even ones they supported before the President said "Good idea, let's do it", then decided to filibuster on their OWN ^^$%#% bills!

Just the five statements above would be enough to get any Teapub/Repub pissed off, and you know something? I Don't give a damn.

Early to bed, and very early to rise

 

Has Wing and I heading to Cottesloe Beach for the 2016 Sculptures by the Sea. They have some really great pieces. But with some of them, their placement left much to be desired. Trees, fences, rubbish bins too close for a clean view, or photo. Used Canon 5D3, Tamron 24-70, and my Canon 8-15mm Fisheye lens.

Such a useful item

I got an o2 Hurricane canless air system because the cost of canned hair, with 3 desktops was very expensive. Especially if you have to do sustained blasts with it.  Have to admit after a few months of cleaning keyboards, desktops, my Skyrim dragon statue, it has more than paid for itself.

It's just a bonus that it works great on removing dust motes and cat fur from lens filters and from the front elements. Don't have to brush or use a cloth.

The last few days have been interesting with the purr kids.  We have installed 'knife proof/cat proof' screen doors in place of the hollow wooden ones.  There have been very umm 'vocal' arguments between Ziggy and Trance with each on one side of the door.  The good news is that since Ziggy knows Trance can't just attack her, she doesn't back down... and she can outshout Trance.  And afterward, Trance heads to her private sulking corner. :)

Groceries ordered, will arrive tomorrow before noon. Now, I just have to figure out what to cook for dinner tonight. :)
