After having my computer shut itself down a few times, I decided to do a wee bit of research. It seems that it's a safety 'feature'. If the computer is in danger of overheating, it will close current program and shut off. As much as I think this is a good thing, as a fried computer isn't something I want, a little warning would be nice.
So, as a preventative, since my laptop is on I have an Alto stand and one of the vents is covered, I put 1 empty SD card case under each corner of the laptop, and have a small clip on desk fan keeping the computer cool.
Tres nifty!
